Whitney Pierce

Whitney Pierce, Early Child hood/ Guitar. I began attending the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN while still in high school, and received my B.M. in guitar performance there, after being awarded both music and academic scholarships. I went on to pursue graduate studies at the University of Minnesota, and was selected to perform in master classes with many distinguished guitarists including Sharon Isbin.

Since moving to the Seattle area in 2003, I have performed in many notable venues including the Space Needle, and in numerous chamber concerts including the annual Cascade Symphony Ensembles Concert series.  I have provided music for hundreds of weddings and other events with the Cedarsounds Duo which includes Jana Boersema on violin.

In addition to performing, I have been teaching guitar to students of all ages for over 16 years. Through my experience and pedagogical studies, I have developed an individualized approach to teaching that allows students to express themselves confidently through their guitar playing. Although my background is in classical and flamenco guitar, I enjoy teaching all styles of guitar with a focus on understanding theory and developing good technique. I am a certified Suzuki instructor which has enabled me to successfully teach students as young five years old. I strive to provide every student with challenging and entertaining repertoire.

Music Works NW is proud to offer lessons with Whitney Pierce.
