Looking for ways to get your child engaged, laughing and learning this summer? We have created a variety of NEW summer camps to fill young brains with music!!! Camps are taught by professional teaching artists and many camps will include a student showcase at the end of the week for family and friends.
Tuition Assistance
At Music Works, we believe that music should be available to all members of our community, regardless of their age, skill levels, or economic status, which is why we're happy to offer tuition assistance to those who could otherwise not afford our summer programming. DDA Respite Funds
For families who currently have access to DDA funds, we are excited to be able to accept DDA funds for our summer camps. For more information and application instructions, follow this link.

Gotta Sing! Camp
Spend a fun-filled week learning to sing! Campers are introduced to basic vocal technique while learning songs from musicals, movies and popular traditions. In the words of one past participant, “I learned how to sing and be more confident!” During the week campers will learn about using their voice as a musical instrument, how to prepare and present a solo, duet or small ensemble piece, and have lots of fun. The camp concludes on Friday with a performance for family and friends.

Spend a week learning to play the piano! Campers will be introduced to piano technique, note reading and musical concepts, while having a fun-filled week of musical activities and games. No previous piano experience necessary.

Jazz Drama Camp
Great singers tell the story of the song and use drama to do it. How do you do that well and be an "original?" The greatest pop singers of all time - Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Queen Latifah, Annie Lennox and Willie Nelson along with decades of greats like Tony Bennett, Joni Mitchell, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand all sing jazz as easily as pop. How? By singing great songs with good melodies and learning to sing like themselves with a big open heart and a simple way of singing! Come learn how and have a ball doing it. This workshop will help you sing better than ever and teach you to connect with the audience and fall in love with the music you’re singing.

Electronic Music Composition 4-Day Camp
Take your music to the next level! Composer/guitarist/producer Clark Grogan will take students on a weeklong deep dive into the major elements of electronic music creation. Using Reason Software, we will explore several of its most popular soft synths to get into the details of programming Beats, Bass lines, and textures. Other topics of exploration will be compositional techniques, sound design, creative routing and signal flow. We will also leave time at the end of every day to work together as a band and create some music as a team. Computer Based Music Production
Take your music to the next level! Students in this camp will take a deep dive into learning how to compose, produce, and perform music using a digital audio workstation (DAW). Working with Apple’s Logic Pro X students will learn how to use this software to turn your personal computer into a powerful music production studio as well as a performance instrument. Topics of focus will include composition, production, film-scoring, synthesizers and sound design, beat-making, sampling, effects, MIDI, and mixing. There will be an emphasis on artistic collaboration among the students attending the camp. The topics covered in this camp will apply to all popular computer-based music production platforms (DAW’s) on the market today such as FL Studio, Cubase, Reaper, Ableton Live and Pro Tools.

Have you ever wanted to join a theater troupe but weren't sure if it would be a good fit? Good news! Our "Take to the Stage" adaptive musical theater camp is for everybody! Our two-week-long in-person summer camp will start with getting to know one another and exploring the structures of a storyline. We will then create our own story and script and choose songs to incorporate into our show to sing as solos, duets, or ensembles. Dancing is also a key element to any good musical theater show. During camp, we will practice showcasing our emotions, create props and backdrops during craft breaks, learn traditional theater warm-ups, and rehearse for our show. This class is appropriate for neurodivergent or disabled campers; all communication preferences and support needs welcome. FAQ
Summer Camp Frequently Asked Questions
What are the camp hours? Most camps run from 9:30am-3:30pm. Campers may be dropped off as early as 9:15am and picked up no later than 3:45pm. Half-day camps and music therapy camps have other hours listed in the camp description.
Do I need to bring a lunch? YES – For full-day camps, please plan to bring a lunch. Music Works does not have food available for purchase. Please DO NOT include any peanut products in lunches!
Do I need to bring a snack? – We suggest you pack two snacks in your child’s lunch.
What else should I bring to camp? A water bottle and a mask or face shield.
Do we spend any time outside? All camps will include some outside time, weather permitting, especially for lunch and snack times.
What should I leave at home? Anything that you would be sad to lose! Phones may be brought to camp, to communicate with parents after camp is over, but they must remain in backpacks during the camp day.
Will there be a performance at the end of the week? Most camps include a final performance for friends and family on Friday afternoon. You will receive information about the time of the performance by Wednesday of the camp week. Culminating performances for in person camps will adhere to all mandated COVID safety protocols.
What is your Cancellation Policy? You may cancel your registration for a camp for a full credit or refund, less a $50 processing fee, up to June 11, 2022. Cancellations received between June 12th and up to two weeks before the camp start date will receive a 50% credit or refund.
Ratio of adults to campers? The maximum ratio of campers to adults is one adult for every 8 campers. Most camps the ratio will be closer to one adult for every 6 campers or less.
Do you serve Neurodivergent campers? YES! We have a variety of camps for Neurodivergent and Disabled campers. In addition, some of the camps are appropriate for all campers. Please contact mtprogram@musicworksnw.org for additional information.
