SUMMER CAMPS

2021 Summer camps!

Looking for ways to get your child engaged, laughing and learning this summer? We have created a variety of NEW, virtual  and in-person summer camps, to fill young brains with music!!! Camps are taught by professional teaching artists over Zoom (other online platforms) as well as in-person, and some camps will include a virtual performance at the end of the week that family and friends near and far will be able to attend.

Due to Covid, we will not be offering before and after care this summer.

Virtual and In-Person Camps Available

Music Works will offer both virtual and in-person camps this summer. Virtual camps will be held on a virtual platform, such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom. For in-person camps, we will be closely monitoring and complying with state and local recommendations for in-person summer camps, including smaller camp sizes, mask requirements, outside time for lunch/snack and break times, physical distancing between campers, and no shared materials between campers.

Tuition Assistance

At Music Works, we believe that music should be available to all members of our community, regardless of their age, skill levels, or economic status, which is why we're happy to offer tuition assistance to those who could otherwise not afford our summer programming. For more information and application instructions, follow the link to our Tuition Assistance webpage.

DDA Respite Funds

For families who currently have access to DDA funds, we are excited to be able to accept DDA funds for our summer camps. Respite funds are available for in-person summer camps only. For more information and application instructions, follow this link.

FAQ

Summer Camp Frequently Asked Questions

What are the camp hours? Most IN-PERSON camps run from 9:30am-3:30pm. Campers may be dropped off as early as 9:15am and picked up no later than 3:45pm. Most VIRTUAL camps run for three hours in the morning (9:30am-12:30pm) or three hours in the afternoon (12:30-3:30pm). Virtual I Love Music camps and music therapy camps have other hours listed in the camp description.

Do I need to bring a lunch? YES – For IN-PERSON full-day camps, please plan to bring a lunch. Music Works does not have food available for purchase. Please DO NOT include any peanut products in lunches!

Do I need to bring a snack? – We suggest you pack two snacks in your child’s lunch.

What else should I bring to camp? A water bottle and a mask or face shield.

Do we spend any time outside? In-person camps will spend time outside, especially for lunch and snack times.

What should I leave at home? Anything that you would be sad to lose! Phones may be brought to camp, to communicate with parents after camp is over, but they must remain in backpacks during the camp day.

Will there be a performance at the end of the week? Most camps include a final performance for friends and family on Friday afternoon. You will receive information about the time of the performance by Wednesday of the camp week. Culminating performances for in person camps will adhere to all mandated COVID safety protocols.

What is your Cancellation Policy? You may cancel your registration for a camp for a full credit or refund, less a $50 processing fee, up to June 12, 2021. Cancellations received between June 13th and up to two weeks before the camp start date will receive a 50% credit or refund.

Ratio of adults to campers? The maximum ratio of campers to adults is one adult for every 8 campers. Most camps the ratio will be closer to one adult for every 6 campers or less.

Do you serve Neurodiverse campers? YES! We have a variety of camps for neurodiverse campers. In addition, some of the camps are appropriate for all campers. Please contact mtprogram@musicworksnw.org for additional information.

How do virtual camps work? Virtual camps will take place on Teams, Zoom or another virtual platform. Some virtual camps have take-home camp kits with instruments and materials for campers to use during camp time. Campers will still have the chance to showcase what they’ve worked on during the week with a virtual showcase for family and friends.

Special Considerations for COVID

What safety precautions will Music Works be taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19? Music Works will be following safety guidelines for day camps for all of our IN-PERSON camps. As of February 2021, these safety guidelines include:

  • Requiring masks for all campers, except campers for whom wearing a mask poses a safety risk. If wearing a mask is not possible, a face shield may be worn.

  • Implementing physical distancing between all camp participants, at least 6 feet for most activities, and greater distances when singing.

  • Small Camp Sizes: Our current cap on in-person camps is 8 campers for most camps, 5 campers for music therapy camps

  • Outdoor Time: The risk of spreading COVID-19 is mitigated when outdoors. Campers will take lunch, snack and movement breaks outdoors throughout the day

  • Daily Screening: Campers will be screened each day for COVID symptoms, and campers who present with any symptoms will be asked to return home

  • Check-In & Check-Out: Drop-off and pick-up will occur outdoors in front of Music Works in order to eliminate or decrease the need for families to enter the lobby

  • No Shared Materials: Each camper will use their own separate materials (i.e. scarves, markers, etc.) so that materials are not shared between campers.

  • Cleaning & Sanitizing: All high-touch surfaces and teaching materials will be cleaned and sanitized at the end of each day of camp

What should I do if my camper or a member of our household has COVID symptoms, tests positive for COVID or is awaiting a COVID test? In alignment with federal guidelines, any campers who have COVID symptoms, test positive for COVID or is awaiting results of a COVID test should not participate in IN-PERSON camp. Campers who have been exposed to someone who has tested positive or has COVID symptoms within two weeks of camp should also not participate in IN-PERSON camps. Ask our registration team at registration@musicworksnw.org to ask about refunds in the above cases.
