Looking for ways to get your child engaged, laughing and learning this summer? We have created a variety of NEW, virtual summer camps, to fill young brains with music!!! Camps are taught by professional teaching artists over Zoom or other online platforms, and some camps will include a virtual performance at the end of the week that family and friends near and far will be able to attend.

I Love Music VIRTUAL Camps

Come discover your musical self! Each week of I Love Music Camp we will focus on a different theme which we’ll explore through singing, instrument playing, musical games and songwriting. Your camper’s virtual camp experience will include live circle time experiences over Teams or Zoom, daily video playlists with instructor-facilitated activities, and prepackaged camp kits for each day, including activities, games, music crafts, and instruments.

Creative Keyboards VIRTUAL Piano Camps
Spend a week learning to play the piano! Campers will meet over Zoom or Microsoft Teams and be introduced to piano technique, note reading and musical concepts, while having a fun-filled week of musical activities and games.

Campers must have access to a piano or keyboard at home in order to participate in this camp​

Let’s Make a Musical! VIRTUAL Camps

Calling all campers who love to SING, ACT and CREATE! Patterned after our popular Gotta Sing camps, campers will meet over Zoom and spend a fun-filled week crafting a new musical. Sing familiar songs and help create the story, movement and dialogue that connects the songs. Camp Director Kelley Johnson is an award-winning vocalist and musical storyteller. The camp concludes on Friday with a virtual performance of your new creation for family and friends.

Gotta Sing! Voice VIRTUAL Camps

Spend a fun-filled week learning to sing! Campers will meet over Zoom and be introduced to basic vocal technique while learning songs from musicals, movies and popular traditions. In the words of one past participant, “I learned how to sing and be more confident!” During the week campers will learn about using their voice as a musical instrument, how to prepare and present a solo, and have lots of fun. Camp Directors Lyndee White and Kelley Johnson have extensive performing experience, including musical theater, opera, jazz and popular music. The camp concludes on Friday with a virtual performance for family and friends.

Violins, flutes, and drums, oh my! Do you love music but want to learn more about different instruments? Then this camp is for you! Campers will meet via Zoom or Microsoft Teams and be introduced to a variety of musical instruments through videos and listening, while learning basic musical concepts. Camp Director and Music Works faculty members Joshua Romatowski (flute and piccolo) will share his love of music during this fun-filled week of instrument exploration.

Calling all enthusiastic young singers! Spend a week singing your favorite pop tunes, learn how to present a song to an audience, and put on a virtual show! Camp Director Kelley Johnson is an award-winning vocalist and has twice been selected by the U.S. State Department to tour as a Jazz Ambassador. This creative and fun week will culminate in a show for family and friends!

VIRTUAL Jazz Drama Camp for POPular Singers

Great singers tell the story of the song and use drama to do it. How do you do that well and be an “Original"? The greatest pop singers of all time - Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Queen Latifah, Annie Lennox and Willie Nelson along with decades of greats like Tony Bennett, Joni Mitchell, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand all sing Jazz as easily as they can Pop music. How? By singing great songs with good melodies and learning to sing like themselves with a big open heart and a simple way of singing!!! Come learn how and have a ball doing it. This workshop will help you sing better than ever and teach you to connect with the audience and fall in love with the music you’re singing!!

Cracking the Jazz Code – Virtual Jazz Camp

Jazz is America's art form. This virtual camp will introduce students to jazz improvisation, jazz theory, and jazz styles. During the week students will learn jazz tunes and the chords and scales that make them work. They will learn to develop jazz phrasing, articulation, and rhythm. In addition to full class instruction, students will be part of a 1 hour master class conducted by a local jazz professional focusing on his/her instrument. There will also be listening labs where students will be able to listen to and discuss this great music. A virtual final performance showcasing the students will take place on Friday at about 11:00 am. Camp Director Bruce Staelens has appeared with numerous big bands (including Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Toshiko Akiyoshi) and his jazz career is highlighted by appearances with Elvin Jones, Arturo Sandoval, Charlie Haden, Andrew Hill (Palmetto Records), Don Cherry, and Sam Rivers.

Music Therapy Camps

 

Musical Adventures Take-Home Camp

This camp is adapted from our In-Person Music Adventures Camp for families who prefer to participate from home on their own time! A board-certified music therapist will be your camper’s guide for the week, engaging them in a fun-filled, musical adventure. Campers will receive a take-home music camp kit, including instruments and crafts to do at home, along with five video playlists with your camp instructor leading music activities that you and your child can do together on your own time and at your own pace. This virtual camp experience can be delivered to you anytime between July 1 – August 31, 2020. Please allow at least two weeks’ notice from the time of registration to the time of delivery.

VIRTUAL Music Meetup

Join us for a week of music-making fun! This camp is adapted from our In-Person Music Meetup camp for families who prefer to participate at home. In this camp designed for campers with special needs, we’ll play musical games, explore instruments, express ourselves creatively through songwriting and dance, and find our singing voice through singing our favorite songs. Campers will participate in short, live experiences over Zoom or Microsoft Teams each morning, receive daily video playlists with activities to complete on their own time, and will also receive a music camp take-home kit, including instruments, activities and crafts.

VIRTUAL Teen Music Meetup

Join us for a week of music-making fun! This camp is adapted from our In-Person Teen Music Meetup camp for families who prefer to participate at home. This music-making group will tap into individual talents, work on problem-solving, explore self-expression and creativity, compose original music, and learn to play a variety of different instruments. Designed for students with special needs in mind, the Teen Music Meetup gives participants an in-depth chance to work intensively on music-making. Campers will participate in short, live experiences over Zoom or Microsoft Teams each morning, receive daily video playlists with activities to complete on their own time, and will also receive a music camp take-home kit, including instruments, activities and crafts.
