Dr. Dainius Vaicekonis has presented many solo and chamber music recital programs and has performed in many cities accross the United States and Europe. Dainius received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Washington, Master of Music degree from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, and Bachelor of Arts from the Lithuanian Academy of Music. Dainius participated in the Sommerakademie of the Mozarteum, Salzburg, Austria. He studied with McCabe, Rose, Karnavicius, and Rubackyte. Dr. Vaicekonis was a winner in several competitions including the International F. Schubert Piano Competition, 1993 in Dortmund, Germany, the Seattle LMC 2000 Award Tour, and the 1998 Concerto Competition at the University of Washington. He was a soloist with the Skagit Symphony, 2003, Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra, 2002, University of Washington Symphony Orchestra, 1999 and the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, 1992. Dainius Vaicekonis was the recipient of the Gerberding fellowship at the University of Washington, 1997-1998. In 2004 he defended his dissertation, "The forest for the trees: Beethoven piano sonatas as integrated cycles". Dr. Vaicekonis served as a judge for the 2005 and 2006 Oregon MTNA competitions. Dainius is currently on the piano faculty at Shoreline Community College and at Music Works Northwest. Music Works is proud to offer individual piano lessons with Dainius Vaicekonis.
