Music Works Board President Ingvar Petursson is currently the Chief Strategist at Two Degrees, LLC, a 500-person technology and financial consulting firm in Seattle which, among many other things, develops technology for digital media distribution. Previously, he was Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer for Corbis, Chief Technology Officer for the Regence Group, Chief Information Officer for AT&T Wireless, and Assistant Vice President, Project Finance for JP Morgan in New York. He has also been an active board participant in the non-profit arena over the years, including leadership roles in the Community Health Information Technology Alliance, the Agora, and the Society for Information Management. Ingvar has been connected with music all his life, and with Music Works for a number of years. His son studied drums at Music Works for four years, culminating in his current role as the drum section leader for the Stanford Band. "It is quite astounding to see your child playing solo drums on the floor of Key Arena during the NCAA basketball championships in front of 17,000 people, with self confidence and a really tight rhythm. This is what Music Works provides to children of all ages." Ingvar also studied jazz piano at Music Works for a year. In his words, "I have ‘played’ the piano since I was a child, but never really ‘felt’ it until I got into jazz. Music Works introduced me to that feeling." |
