Shiang-Yin Lee

Shiang-Yin Lee received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in cello performance from the University of Washington. She earned her Masters of Music in Cello Pedagogy from the University of Texas and her Bachelor of Music, with honors--cum laude, from the University of North Texas.

Ms. Lee received her Suzuki teaching certificates from the Chicago Suzuki Institute. She studied with Teachers Raymond Davis, Cordelia Miedel, Toby Saks, Yehuda Hanani, Marion Feldman and studied pedagogy with internationally renowned pedagogues Phyllis Young and Irene Sharp. She participated several summers at Aspen Music Festival. Her performances credits include solo and chamber recitals in both the U.S. and Taiwan as well as playing with Aspen Sinfonia, University of Washington, University of Texas, Everett and Federal Way Symphony Orchestras, and the Seattle Choral Company.

Before moving to Seattle, she taught at the String Project and was a teaching assistance at the University of Texas. She is a member of East West String Quartet, Lulli Piano Trio and A Triem Ensemble.

Shiang-Yin is a frequent clinician at schools and the Washington State Suzuki Festival. She frequently performs at Seattle Downtown's "Out To Lunch" concert series, Sherman Clay and Seattle Film Festival. She has a keen interest in cello pedagogy and her doctoral dissertation is a study of different schools of cello pedagogy in 20th century.

Ms. Lee's students have been selected for WMTA All-State Honor Orchestra, and won top seats at Seattle and Bellevue Youth Orchestras and finalist at the Federal Symphony Concerto Competition.
