Early Childhood Music Programs at Music Works NorthwestWeeboppers (ages 2 - 5) - Weeboppers was conceived at the Forte Music School in Portland, Oregon. Like most Early Childhood classes, music is used as a basis of play and relationship building between parent and child as well as exposing kids and families to fundamental musical concepts. Parents and kids will have a great time playing with different props and musical instruments in games and learning sessions while working through the Weebopper tunes. The music used in this series is original and modern. Each week explores a new set of songs and games. The instructor, Mark DiForio, has been mentoring Children for 20 years and was involved in the conception of this new program. He was the primary instructor in the first two years that the program was offered in Oregon. His playful enthusiasm and wacky sense of humor help bring the joy of music to children and parents alike. Music Together (ages 8 months - 5 years) - Taught by Heidi Sewall this is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for infants through kindergarteners and their caregivers. The Music Together program is based on the belief that young children learn best from making music with parents/caregivers. The weekly sessions are designed to include the entire family in a rich musical classroom environment filled with songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. A songbook, CD, and caregiver education materials allow the family music experience to continue at home between weekly sessions. The multi-age, non-performance format of Music Together allows for a relaxed, playful environment where people can comfortably participate in music regardless of their ability. A new song collection is presented each semester over a period of three years so the learning can continue for children and adults alike. Musikgarten for Infants - This series of classes encourages the singing of call-and-response and simple songs, kinesthetic movement, percussion play, and instrument exploration. Parent participation required. Musikgarten Family Music for Toddlers (ages 18 months-3 years) - Children, parents and caregivers will participate in musical activities including singing, rhythmic rhymes, finger play, musical stories, instrument exploration, and movement to music designed to increase the child’s curiosity about music, and to establish the foundation for singing and musical thought. Parent participation is required. Musikgarten Cycles of the Seasons (ages 3-5) - This series of classes encourages the singing of call-and-response and simple songs, kinesthetic movement, percussion play, and instrument exploration.
