Early Childhood Music & MusikGarten |
Mark has been a student of music since the 4th grade when he began lessons on the flute. He would go on to study the saxophone and at age 16, about the same time he began working with children, he began studying the drums. After much involvement in music inside and outside of school Mark found his way to New Orleans where he earned a Master's Degree in Jazz Performance. At first Mark cared for and nurtured children as a camp counselor, baby-sitter and director of the nursery at The First Unitarian Universalist Church of New Orleans. From his love for children and music he began teaching private drum lessons and soon moved on to teaching after school group music programs. After being displaced from New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina, Mark relocated to Portland, Oregon where he taught drum set and all of the children's music classes at Forte Music School. He was a key ingredient in designing the activities for the original Weeboppers music curriculum and now that he lives in Seattle, Weeboppers has arrived. He also directed his own music summer camp for children 5-8, "The Best Music Camp Ever" and taught at a Rock Camp for kids ages 10 - 18. Teaching children is a wonderful way to balance a life as a professional musician and when Mark isn't laughing and singing with the children he is performing locally, regionally and world-wide. Music Works is proud to offer Weebopper classes with Mr. DiFlorio. Call 425-644-0988 to register. |
